We are excited to begin using an app called recap! Thanks to the help of three of our wonderful students, who happened to be in ASP today, we can explain the steps to use recap. Go to letsrecap.com on any device that has a microphone and a camera. At the welcome page choose Student. On the sign up page near the bottom, where you see Already Registered? - click on Sign In, choose- With Class Pin. The pin is: okholio. You should see your name and a button with your initials. Click on your button. Next, read the question and think about what you want to say. You will have a minute or two to give a brief response. When you're ready to answer, click on the red button that says, "Respond." Mrs. Stewart and I will be able to log in and view the recordings, this will help us determine how well you understood the concept. As we become more familiar with this application we'll be able to post responses on our blog, use them for reteaching, peer tutoring, and a variety of other ways. There are videos on the letsrecap.com website that can give you more information if you are interested.
We have officially finished Native Americans in social studies, and will soon begin explorers. We have begun learning about simple machines in science. In math we have been learning about factors and multiples - ask your child if he or she can explain the difference. In reading we have been learning about point of view, there will be a test Friday. Next up: opinion reading. Students are writing an opinion piece explaining with which Native American tribe they would choose to live.
